DOING NOTHING – SOMEONE HAS TO
We are in Mexico pretty much doing nothing. Which once you dial down your Type A personality to a Type Q works pretty well. It takes about two to three hours for the dial down to take effect.
The most strenuous, regimented thing we do is work out and I’m so dialed down that I just sent Glenn off to the gym and decided to stay in bed until breakfast at 10:30.
Now I could say that is due to my devotion to all of you and my need to blog, but truth is I just felt walking to the gym was too much effort today. And working out…forget about it.
In fact most of our days are spent moving from one type of lounge chair to another. Which will be another day’s blog as if I don’t save it – I will have nothing to write about.
But that being said, we are in a gorgeous spot. In a truly perfect hotel. We have our family here. We are all just reading and eating and getting spa treatments and taking naps, and well, I guess that covers it.
Typical day goes….
7: 00 AM – Coffee arrives in room. Except I said to Glenn this am why are we having coffee on a NY schedule. Let’s wait and see what time we get up. I think it could be closer to 11 if we go that route.
7:40 – 8:00 AM – Glenn heads out to tip someone to save us five chairs (on which he puts books and magazines just incase) and three umbrellas. If he does not do this no one will speak to him the rest of the day.
8:15- 9:15 is the gym. There is a little golf cart that takes you or you can walk the ninety steps to get there. Like I said this morning it’s too much work to do any of it. I may swim in our little pool. I may not.
10:30 – We all meet for a big breakfast the serves as kind of a brunch. That takes us to 11:30. We eat masses of guacamole for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
11:30 – 4:00 – we sit by a pool or on the beach and we read and make fun of each other or other people if they can’t hear us. Around one thirty the kids – well I guess they are really not kids – they order fries and and chicken fingers and kid food. Which I refuse until it comes and then I eat off their plates. Which means they are still kids.
4:00 PM some of us head off to do a spa treatment. Glenn heads off to smoke a cigar. Yesterday Randall was the bravest and took a tennis lesson. He got through it but the heat did him in and he took a golf cart back to the room for a nap. Today I’m getting my hair blown dry as no matter how hard I try or how many beach wave products I use, my hair still looks like Janis Joplin’s if I don’t get it blown out. Does anyone know how beach wave products actually work? I own them all and none ever have.
5:30 – 7:00 another rest period. But more of a room rest. NO TV. I made a vow, no news on this trip unless it comes over the phone.
7:30 – meet for a drink in this cool pit in a lagoon kind of thing.
8:30 – wander to dinner at one of the 6 restaurants.
10:30 – lights out. At least ours.
And that is all folks.
