EAT DRINK AND BE ARTY

We only have one full day here, we head out tomorrow, today, by the time you are reading this to places – well, you will have to see…

So today we had to cram in as much as we possibly could.  Madrid for nine hours of daylight means museums, after  daylight – food. As I always do, I  bought museum tickets online for the things we wanted to see.  I never really like to do things that require too much concentration for that first day.

Last night we had a wonderful meal at a small place around the corner. It’s clearly run by a well known chef.

Not your average bread. Don't know why, but it was amazing.

The chef gifted us with a parsnip potato soup, it had little pieces of ham on the bottom.

This was a goat cheese salad, but again with Iberian ham and these crunchy things. Too good.

You are not alone to take photos inside the Prado. I snuck this one and got yelled out. It's one of those museums that you need a year to get through. But we did get to see a special Goya show along with part of the permanent collection.

We took a two hour break from museums and went to a very cute part of town. We stopped for a snack...I never get enough tomato bread here. This was a make your own.

Tonight we went to a fish restaurant called El Pescador. I was dying to try this place. Very hard to get into. When I called they said no. When the Concierge from the Ritz called they said yes. It’s really simple. Fish. No meat. No veg. The fish is cooked very simply, like raw or grilled. No sauces for the most part. They figure the freshness of the seafood mixed with the taste of the sea is plenty. Like I had to ask for lemon.  Glenn who will eat the most crazy assed things thought it was one of the great meals ever. I thought it was very good. Memorable in many ways. But we were all together and that is always for me what is important.

These were on the table. Glenn ate them all. Cute. But I preferred the soup from the night before.

Red Tuna Tartar. It was tuna. Tuna and salt. No avocado. No peppers. No lime. Literally tuna and salt.
