While in Paris I saw the retrospective of the French illustrator, photographer and art director Jean Paul Goude. For those who don't recognize the name you will recognize some of the images. He became most well known for his work with Grace Jones, who was not only his muse but the mother of his child. He worked in New York as the art director for Esquire and also at New York Magazine. He has been an art director, a filmmaker and a mainstay in the world of fashion advertising and design.

While in Paris I saw the retrospective of the French illustrator, photographer and art director Jean Paul Goude.  For those who don’t recognize the name you will recognize some of the images.  He became most well known for his work with Grace Jones, who was not only his muse but the mother of his child.  He worked in New York as the art director for Esquire and also at  New York Magazine. He has been an art director, a filmmaker and a visionary  in the world of fashion, advertising and design.

The show is in a giant room at The Musee des Art Decoratifs.  I was blown away by it.

Diana Vreeland and friends.

Flower Girl

Mrs. Jones to you. Grace.

Another way to look at her.

He's looked Grace from many sides.

Valentino and his pugs.

Marc Jacobs

I don't kno who she is but love the picture.

Three Guys

There was a room of these Grace Jones type moving robot things.
Photo doesn't really capture it.

Another time when the photo doesn't capture the magic. These are a series of adds he did for Galeries Lafayette the department store. They are moving subway cars and they are filmed and the people go in and out of the cars. It's great fun.

I wish I had had my Flip with me that day to really get it.
