Fashion Week in NYC is a big deal. Fashion Week to the women and the men who care is like the NBA playoffs for those who like basketball. The editors and the photographers, and the celebrities and now we can add on the fashion bloggers who have become huge ( i secretly would like to be one of those) and the fashionistas who have become their own kind of celebrity. And I think perhaps thanks to shows like Gossip Girl and Sex in the City, designers are the new rock stars. Certainly if you care about clothes they are.

I am not embarrassed to admit I care a lot about clothes. Perhaps more than I should, but I always have. In fact I think I would rather be in fashion than anything else.

So I am very happy when fashion week comes to town. I don’t go to a lot of shows, it’s actually a big deal to get invited to the top shows. People barter their children sometimes for a front row seat to a top show. I was beyond thrilled this year to get an invitation to Reed Krakoff’s show.

The coveted fashion show invitation. They are numbered. You cannot pas it on to a chum.

Obviously what you wear is a big deal. Many people look like they have not thought about it, many more look like they spent days figuring it out. The funny thing is the clothes they are showing are for next fall, it happens to be the dead of winter, but you are a tad out of it if you show up in something that is not in next season’s collection of someone. Which means you need to be wearing spring clothes in the winter or at least put your outfit together with one or two spring pieces. Weather be damned, it may be snowing but  sandals are next season. I did not wear sandals, though had they had my size  I would have.   I did pop by Reed’s store this morning when I realized all my pieces were from his fall and last summer collections. So I picked up a silver sweater from the spring collection. I fell over when I tried on the sandals. My fault not his they are divine.

What I wore, black fall skirt from The Row, Silver Sweater Reed Krakoff Spring, blue bag Reed Krakoff, his signature cuff bracelet and the jacket is by a small French company called L'Agence.

For some reason today a lot of people took my picture. This does not usually happen, it made me very happy, being I really want to be in fashion and could give up writing any second if someone said come run our fashion blog, line, store, stand, I’m not picky. I guess they liked the whole outfit and the Japanese photographers kept stopping me and taking pictures my shoes.

Shoes from a company out of China called United Nude.

So you wander about and take in all the outfits and if you are in fashion it’s like anything else you mingle and network and do what you do in all businesses, Except it’s fashion so it is so much fun!

I thought this girl looked wonderful. A bit of all seasons but so chic.

I was very happy as I finally got to meet Simon Doonan. I have been a big fan of his for years. Simon is not only creative director at Barney’s, he probably does the best windows in the history of windows. He writes hysterical books, he has new one out called – How much do I love this title ~ Gay Men Don’t Get Fat.  He told me he would let me do a 50@50 of him. Thrilled!!! Simon is also married to the whimsical yet oh-so-practial designer of  all things home Jonathan Adler.

Everyone was taking their photo.
These shoes were so much cooler than mine.

I've seen this woman so many times....no idea of her name.

You know it's an important show when she shows up. Needs no ID. She was not wearing Prada from what I could tell

Heading to her seat.

Now I don’t know how this happened but the fates of fashion were smiling on me as she was seated four people down from me in the first row. And I was seated two seats away from Anna Della  Russo. Now, truth is I might be wrong about this whole Anna Della Russo thing – her blog she says she was in Paris today at the YSL Couture. But it totally looks like her.

I have now poured over forty photos and I can’t believe they would be holding Paris Couture week during New York Fashion Week. They couldn’t. So I will stick with Anna Della Russo for five hundred.

Of course the photo man himself Bill Cunnigham was there. And he took my picture which I was not even aware of.

And then he was gone. He's like that if you have seen the film

I think the only reason he took my picture was because I was sitting next to and chatting with uber stylist  Christina Ehrlich. A super nice celebrity stylist. She is off to do the Oscars but when she gets back I’m going to go interview her for the blog.

You are not supposed to take photos. They have a special section for photographers. People do sneak them on their iPhones. I was not about to start taking photos with Anna Wintour and perhaps Anna Della Russo two and four seats away. I did however sneak in this one. The clothes were amazing. They were chic, wearable, modern, yet timeless.  Maybe I can’t be a fashion blogger as I write in cliches when it comes to clothes. Maybe I am just too crazy about Reed’s style. But i was not alone. I would have worn everything that walked by. Of course there were a few dresses you might have had to cut me in half to fit in. But it was a wonderful collection!

My one runway shot.
The man of the hour and I think for next season Reed Krakoff.

I was right it was Anna Della Russo her Twitter feed said she was in NY today.
