There are tens of thousands of bloggers on all topics swimming daily in the seas of cyberspace. From sports to food to weird sex you name it endless people are glued to a laptop somewhere giving their opinions about it and more often than not taking photos of it. Aside from the daily newspaper and magazines such as Time and Newsweek taking a giant kick in the pants, as by the time any of them arrive it's not just yesterday's news, but it's often last hours news, I think the fashion bloggers have totally changed the face and the way we read about fashion, absorb fashion and in fact the way many people now wear their clothes.

FASHION BLOGGERS TAKE OVER THE FRONT ROW

There are tens of thousands of bloggers on all topics swimming daily in the seas of cyberspace.  From sports to food to weird sex you name it endless people are glued to a laptop somewhere giving their opinions about it and more often than not taking photos of it.

Aside from the daily newspaper and magazines such as Time and Newsweek taking a giant kick in the pants, as by the time any of them arrive it’s not just yesterday’s news, but it’s often last hours news, I think the fashion bloggers have totally changed the face and the way we read about fashion, absorb fashion and in fact the way many people now wear their clothes. By bringing the street fashion to the forefront it has taken the head to toe match-matchy, perfect magazine look and made it a thing of the past.

The front rows of the shows used to be filled with magazine editors, assistant editors and buyers, and not to say these people are still not there as they are, but they are having to move over or in some cases move to the second row to make way for the bloggers.  The bloggers impact on fashion as been immense and unlike the way say iTunes or eBooks has changed the way we buy, listen to music and buy and read books, fashion bloggers I think has made high end fashion and the people who make it, sell it to us and wear much more approachable and interesting.

i  have no interest in picking up any of the magazines that still come to the house. First off by the time they get here I have seen everything in them online and as opposed to seeing clothes on starved, air brushed models, I have seen them mixed and matched and wearable on real live people. And for the most part one sees people in usually much more affordable clothing.

Bloggers have made it real, they have made it daily, they have made it personal, quirky and interesting.

I knew about many blogs and follow quite a few, but not until this last Fashion Week did I really start digging into some of the more obscure ones.

The girl I identified incorrectly as Julia Rotfield the daughter of the former editor of French Vogue’s daughter is actually Miroslava Duma  who has the Russian fashion blog  Buro 24/7

Check it out, it’s a lot of fun. Lucy came in and said why are you reading a blog where every word is Russian except for Ralph Lauren?

While researching Anne Della Russo I happened upon her blog which is not bringing fashion to the people at large, but is a lot of fun.

Twenty-Three year old Leandra Medine has become one of the more influential people in the world of fashion in a very short period of time. Her blog Man Repeller based on the notion women dress for each other and not to attract men is not only fun and funny but truly quirky and original. Leandra went home with the Bloglovin award for best  fashion blogger of the year this year.

The great thing about fashion blogs is they tell you who everyone is. I found out those three girls I did not identify are the ridiculously popular Clarins sisters. Now I know of the four French sisters who seem to be everywhere at once. They are the Miller sisters of this year. But I had never seen them IRL.  Thanks to The Stylist another very popular blog I was led right to them.

How is it every ten year or so a gaggle of sisters comes along all gorgeous and rich? This is the new crop.

There is a popular French blog called Garance Dore,  one of my other favorites that brings what people are wearing in the streets to you in a way that looks like it came out of a magazine. Which  I think is one of the great charms of  fashion blogging it makes normal people look like they are on the pages of a magazine.

From obscure blogs photographers sometimes become very quick sensations. That was the case with Canadian Tommy Ton and his Jak & Jil blog, he went from blogging to be a fashions photographer and part of the inner circle vey fast.

Then there is the king of them all  The Sartorialist who is the number one fashion blogger in the world and at the top of everyone’s daily list – those who care about these things!

OK ~ I’m over Fashion Week now, my paperback gets released tomorrow so I will be back to books.
