In shopspeak we are seventeen days away from Christmas. That means if you're not all wrapped and ready for the holiday, including the eight day Chanukah stretch that starts on the twentith you had better get clicking. I decided this year I would do my entire blog shop list from the Internet. Everything is a click away. The photos are all taken with my computer or taken from the sites. A lot of them are things I love, some are things I own or wish to own myself and some are things I think are just great gift ideas.

I’M MAKING MY LIST AND CLICKING IT TWICE

In shopspeak we are seventeen days away from Christmas. That means if you’re not all wrapped and ready for the holiday, including the eight day Chanukah stretch that starts on the twentith you had better get clicking.

I decided this year I would do my entire blog shop list from the Internet. Everything is a click away. The photos are all taken with my computer or taken from the sites.   A lot of them are things I love, some are things I own or wish to own myself and some are things I think are just great gift ideas.

I am a good shopper. I have to own that and pat my shopper’s shoulder on the back. My feeling is for those near and dear better one amazing gift than a bunch of little stuff. And for those not so near and maybe not so dear or people you want to give just a small thing to, useful is the way to go.

I think it’s very hard to give reading books unless you really know the person’s taste. Tech stuff is awesome but they have to know how to use it or want to learn. Glenn’s unused iPad from Father’s Day being an example. And I do try to think what would the other person really like. I have had some people in my life give me what they wanted not bothering to think what I wanted. A gift can be as simple as a flower, as benevolent as a charity contribution or if you had an amazing year, a diamond. But in these times as in others it is the thought that counts and thinking about who the other person really is is the place to start.

So with that. I don’t think you can ever go wrong with a candle. I know it’s a boring place to start, but I have seldom met a candle I didn’t like. It’s one of my favorite gifts to give and to receive. It’s the gift of light and scent and goes for either sex.

Votivos are probably the best candle for the price. They burn long and smell great. Red Current is a true winter scent.

But I have to say my new favorite candle and I have burned through them all, is Santa Barbara's Lissa Liggett Perfumes. They are all handmade, natural and have dreamy scents. I'm a sucker for Gardenia and Jasmine. Plus Lissa is an awesome girl with a great website.

Big chunky, funky, elegant, ethnic, you name it costume jewelry is totally trending right now. I have personally always loved it. A company I recently discovered thanks to the ManReppler blog is Dannijo. They are two sisters who make wonderful jewelry here in New York.

Dannijos Knox Necklace. I actually have this and since getting it have barely taken it off. A great XMAS gift for women of any age. I told you I love this company.

This Dannijo piece is called the Zsa Zsa - tells you what you need to know. I love it. I confess I sent the link to Glenn as our anniversary is next week.
These will add some holiday sparkle to any New Year's Look. I would wear them in the daytime with jeans. Don't you love how people always say that about fancy things?
Since horses seem to have been at the forefront of conversation this week, how about these for the horse lover in your life?
Danijo's Silver Bangle - I don't know many women who would not like to get this.

Where to buy Dannijo

The king of costume jewelry right now is Tom Binns and this is a typical piece of his. Pricey, timeless and might very well be a collectors item one day.

You can't go wrong with a purse and no one is doing them better than Reed Krakoff this season. He calls this the gym bag. Comes in tons of colors and is so practical and chic. It might be the perfect purse.

Rebecca Minkoff is thirty years old and having a huge career. I think this is a fun/chic bag.

Fur Vests are trending I know that is the most obnoxious phrase but I sort of love it  #Trending. #Trending #Trending.  But faux fur which is the french way of saying fake, which makes it sound much nicer , has actually gotten very nice.  There are some great FAUX fur vests out there.

This one by Ladonna is at ShopBop. I would so wear this. #TRENDING

This vest is also FAUX - no animals killed. Killing animals is not trending. It's by Halston so it costs more.
Gloves are a great gift, especially since people tend to lose them - these by Hester van Eeghen are gorgeous.
What might this be? Well it's sort of great as it can be whatever you want it to be. It can hold wandering things in your bag. I use mine for my reading glasses. They are pretty swell and very useful. Also by Hester van Eeghen

Who can't use a French Press? Even if you have one, you can always use another.

I'm sorry a French Press with a pound of your favorite coffee is a swell gift. I would go for the caffeinated.

Bodum French Press at Target $16.95

Jack’s Coffee – my Fav

I would be thrilled to get an umbrella. No one ever has enough umbrellas. Half the time you never have an umbrella.

The gift of Music. For $9.95 a month you can give someone endless music with Spotify. It's a good deal as you can buy a more expensive gift and pay for it over time.

Coffee table books are a great gift. So are cookbooks provided you know someone cooks. If I were to give a cookbook this season it would be Amanda Hesser and Merrill Stubb’s Food52.

I would love to get this book too. Taylor you out there?

Food52 at Amazon

If I were to give a coffee table book – actually I am giving this book as a gift ~ Oberto Gili’s Home Sweet Home

It's the design book of the season and it's really wonderful
Depending on your list this could be a very well received book. In this case is it better to give or to receive?

 Amazon.com for all

And then while you’re giving books Oprah picked this one as the perfect Mother’s Day gift, I don’t know why we can’t extend that to XMAS. Come on- it’s been a long time since I asked anyone to buy my book. But you know I think it’s a great gift – Even a stocking stuffer.

And then considering how much need there is the gift of charity is always the perfect thing to do. Unicef has something called the Inspired Gift Program. This is the one I tend to use for Holiday giving.

“When you buy an Inspired Gift on behalf of a friend or family member, we will send that person an electronic or paper personalised gift card with a photograph and description of the gift.  Your purchase will then be dispatched to any of the 155 countries in which UNICEF operates depending on where the need is greatest.

We have a wide variety of gifts to choose from, including vaccines to immunize young children, therapeutic milk to counter malnutrition, family water kits, water pumps, mosquito nets and many other essential items.”

Charity is always trending.  #GIVE # NEED  # LOVE # OPEN YOUR WALLET  # FROM YOUR HEART
